A day of wedding to do's

Yesterday, was a busy afternoon. The weather was horrible with pouring down rain and bursts of strong wind! I picked up and Andrea, than my sister and her three daughters. We made it to the fitting appointment just on time at 11 am. My Mom and friend Leah met us there a few minutes later but, unfortunately they missed me in my dress. I only needed to get mine hemmed and everyone else for the most part had to get them taken in some. The seamstress is going to hold all the scrape pieces for me. I want to try and make a tutu or a dress out of the leftovers for our daughter if, we have one. I think it would be cute to wear on her first birthday and than she can pass it along to her daughter and so forth and so forth.
Once we were done with our fitting we drove down to Old Ellicott City and had coffee and lunch at "Bean Hallow". That coffee shop isn't the biggest place so it took some maneuvering of chairs and tables to fit us all. It was really nice hanging out with all the girls and having girl talk. Most of us ordered chicken salad or egg salad sandwiches and chai teas. Once we were done we walked up the hill to the jewelry store so I could find out about our rings and when we need to order them. It was such a crappy day to do at that walking around in the rain but, a least it
wasn't snowing. We walked up the hill to the bakery for the cake tasting appointment and we had to wait since another appointment was going on. The bakery actually
had me down for Sunday and I told the guy I just called when we were eating lunch to see if we could move the appointment up. Since there was so much confusion the owner "Chris" came in and help us. We all got free drinks and he took of the delivery fee if we go through them. The cake wasn't the best that we've had but, the prices were good and I know Angie wanted to try and make our cake but, after pricing everything out it makes sense to take the stress off of her and order the cake so that's what we did and I gave them our deposit a few days later. Angie is still going to make our Owl cake topper.

A rough draft our invitations.

My custom made one of a kind wedding invitations!

So, I worked on our wedding invitations today. The following is a picture of the invitation design process. I think I may have bit off more than I can chew with this task but, I'm going to have fun completing it. I really hope they turn out the same way I envision them! Soon, I'm going to have the girls over so I can complete this project a bit quicker!! The flowers are going to be used on the place cards I think. I glued three different colors and sized rhinestones on about 300 little flowers! Drew made the "K" and "D' (awwww).

What do you think?

Today Andrea, Leah, and my Mom came over to decorate the invitations. I made them a french toast and sausage breakfast and Leah brought the coffee. I printed off about 80 invitations last night figuring that is more than enough for us. I'm really happy with the wording Drew and I chose and I managed to get the ink color pretty closet to the floral purple color that was on the invitations already. I used the font "Garamond" for the main wording and "Edwardian Script ITC" for our names. We glued tiny clear micro beads using silver glitter glue to different parts of the purple floral designs. My cats were dying to help and very curious about what we were doing. I have to say they turned out really nice and I really enjoyed the girl talk! Andrea stayed after Mom and Leah left and we made the templates for the envelope liners.
Thanks girls!

My sister Angie came over and I made her breakfast as well! Today we made all the envelope liners for both the invitations and response cards. We used a giant 18 x 18 "Martha Stewart" scrapbook page paper. When I bought them I realized it was a discontinued line so I bought all they had and it should be more than enough. We were able to get four sets on each template per sheet so I have plenty of leftovers to use for the programs maybe. We took turns tracing, cutting, and gluing them. Angie wasn't too happy about this task but, she did a great job. Too bad we ran out of glue so I will have to finish gluing the leftovers another day. She stayed over for about half the day and, it was really nice just hanging out with her. I don't remember the last time it was just her an I and for that long of a time period. I really appreciate her coming over and staying that long especially when she has seven kids to take care of at home.

Round Two for bride maids dresses.

Today we set out just to try on bridesmaid dresses and junior bridesmaid dresses and we had no I idea we were going to find both! We started off at "Starbucks" and made our way through a crowed busy Mall. We only went to two stores and we found just what I was looking for! We bought the dresses form Macy's and we even got them all on SALE!! The bridesmaid dresses are a long deep royal purple satin that has just a little bling and a little train. The crazy things about these dresses were that Andrea I went to "Macy's" last November as you might have read in an earlier post and she tried the same dress on but they had it in a gray/silver color. Who knew that I knew that was the dress back than! The junior bridesmaids dresses are perfect! I wanted something that wouldn't age them too much and would still be fun and youthful. The girls already are planning on where they will wear them after the wedding! They are wearing a darker purple knee length dress. The bottom part is layers of tulle and satin. Which is perfect because Angie and I are going to try and make the flower girl dresses which are made of tulle.
We also found the perfect dress for Mom at "Lord and Tyler's" but, she didn't get it since she still wants to shop around. I have a feeling she's going to end up with that
dress! It was a long silver layered ruffle dress that looked so elegant on her! It really is perfect for her. We ended the seven hour shopping day at "Panera". We had a great time and I'm lucky to have such great friends and family!

Brides Maid Dresses

Today two of my three bridesmaids were able to meet up at a bridal boutique to try on some dresses. I knew the place had one of the dresses I wanted them to try on, which is the blue strapless dress made by "Bill Levkoff" in the above photo and to the left. I was surprised that I was the first one there but, it was nice because I was able to talk with the ladies that worked there and to show them what I was looking for. When Leah came in she was so excited and almost started crying (awww). I know whatever dress I end up going with I want it to be in a purple shade. There were a few dresses they tried on that just didn't cut it! It's amazing how some thing looks good on the hanger but not on.
My sister Angie tried on a few dresses that we we're considering for my two older nieces (her daughters). Since they are both around our sizes it works. After we tried on the dress we went over to Starbucks and hung out and did some girl talk! In all the years I've known the Leah I don't think just the three of us have ever hung out. We had a really good time. I was also able to show them the invitations I bought the night before. They really liked the ideas I have for them and they said they will totally help me! Yay!

On Nov. 1, 2008 which I can't believe was almost a year ago! After I bought my first wedding dress and yes I said first wedding dress me and my missing bridesmaid stopped by Macy's to try on some dresses. She look good in them as you can see below. She still talks about how she really wanted the purple one. She also tried on a dress not pictured that looked great on the hanger but did nothing for her or anyone one who would try it on!
